The actor, who is co-producing the movie with his daughter Rhea, claimed that he had approached Khan about the film before considering Abhay Deol for the part.
Kapoor and his family had expected Khan to accept the role because he had recently worked with his other daughter Sonam on the successful I Hate Luv Storys.
"Rhea and Sonam did send the script over to Imran. I don't know why he didn’t do it. Maybe he was wary of a script that was named after the heroine. But Abhay is the perfect choice," Kapoor told Real Bollywood.
