The filmmaker, who has recently produced Stepmom, We Are Family and I Hate Luv Storys, said that he wants to step back behind the camera again.
"The director in me is restless and wants to break free," Johar revealed on Twitter.
"Can't wait to be back on set and yell 'Action'... my job is truly my best friend."
Johar's last directorial project My Name Is Khan, which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, made Bollywood history when it became the highest grossing Indian movie of all time.
