The family of Reddy have filed a case against the director over the negative portrayal of his character.
According to the Mumbai Mirror, a source commented: "Ubala's family and some of his followers have threatened Ramu's life for the negative portrayal of Ubala's character."
Confirming the death threats, the filmmaker said: “Yes they have put [out] a legal notice and I am getting threatening calls and messages through various people.
"They are not happy with the way he has been portrayed in the film. He had many criminal cases against him before he was killed in 1999. I will speak to the police at an appropriate time."
