After he bulked up to play the Tarzan-style role alongside brother-in-law Zayed Khan, it is now claimed that the project will now go ahead without him.
Faruk Kabir, who was due to direct the film, admitted that he is unsure what will happen now.
"I was supposed to direct Welcome To The Jungle for Sanjay Khan saab with Hrithik and Zayed in the lead. We had in fact scripted the film," he said.
"I then got busy with Allah Ke Banday and Hrithik got busy with Kites and Guzaarish. I really don't know where that project stands at the moment."
Meanwhile, Zayed Khan has dismissed the idea that anything was confirmed in the first place.
"No serious thought was given to that script. It was just media hype," he said.
