The Guru actor Mistry agreed to shoot a cameo for the sequel to East Is East, which premiered yesterday at the London Film Festival.
The actor, who attended the event with Strictly Come Dancing partner Flavia Cacace, said: "You should go and see West Is West because it follows the footsteps of the dysfunctional Khan family.
"If you have enjoyed the first one, it's a must you come and see the second."
The 37-year-old star also spoke about the similarities between himself and the character he plays in the project. "The way I see it, is that there is a lot of me in Tariq, such as the adventurous and cool side of Jimi," he said.
Writer Ayub Khan Din has already confirmed he is working on a third film. West Is West is released in February 2011.
