In an interview with The Times of India, the model-turned-actress said that she did not initially believe in herself.
The Singh is Kinng star revealed: "There was a phase in my life when I didn't want to do the work that I was doing. Whether it was too bold or too sexy, I never believed that I was. I never believed that I was a sex symbol."
The actress, who has just celebrated ten years in the film industry, added: "I just snapped out of it one day. Also, if you have to be insecure, it could be about anything. It's about saying what you really want. And if you want it really bad, you get it in any case."
Dhupia will next be seen in Action Replayy and With Love to Obama, which both release in November.
