Speaking to the Times of India the award-winning director of Black Friday said he envied other directors who can make the kind of films they want and still succeed at the box office.
Reacting to a statement suggesting Guzaarish director Sanjay Leela Bhansali does not make films for money, Kashyap said: "I envy the fact that he does not make films for money and still gets paid. I am paid nothing - I have to forfeit my fees to make my kind of films."
The director also said in the interview that he prefers working with unknown actors rather than box-office friendly Bollywood stars.
"I prefer working with new faces since there is more hunger and the whole process becomes very exciting," Kashyap said.
