Padukone to play Bachchan's daughter

Deepika Padukone has been cast as Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter in Aarakshan because of her resemblance to the actor.

Director Prakash Jha was reportedly considering two other Bollywood actresses when he thought of Padukone for the role.

"I began to flesh out the part - make it more dramatic," said the director.

"That's when I thought of Deepika in the role of Bachchan Saab's daughter. They're both tall and look quite like father and daughter."

Shooting for Aarakshan will take place in Bhopal and begin in 2011. It will be Padukone’s first film with Bachchan and Jha.
