The actor had been approached by Manish Gupta to appear in the project about sexual harassment at an engineering college, reports Hindustan Times.
Gupta revealed that the project was based on a real-life incident, saying: "I heard an inhuman story of a boy who would be stripped naked, made to dance and get raped by a senior every night.
"I was 17 then. First I thought it was a fictitious story, but then I met this boy and it angered me that people would stoop to such levels."
After Kapoor turned down the part, the Sarkar writer is said to have approached Kunal Khemu and Shreyas Talpade, who both rejected the film.
Former model Vatsal Sheth, who appeared in Heroes and Taarzan: The Wonder Car, has agreed to appear in the production.
