The campaigning actress said that she prefers not to use the term 'engagement'.
In an interview with The Times of India, she commented: "We don't call it an engagement because that term is not auspicious in our family.
"My last engagement eight years ago to Alex didn't work out."
She also revealed that she is putting off the wedding until the end of the year because of her career, and is hoping to have the ceremony in Egypt.
Jaitley was voted the 48th most desirable actress in Bollywood, in a recent Itimes poll.
