Director Shirish Kunder has announced the recruitment of the Iqbal actor through his Facebook profile.
The filmmaker, who is known to directly interact with fans through social media, posted: "Shreyas Talpade has been cast as the second male lead in Joker. He plays Akshay Kumar's brother in the film."
The Jaan-e-maan director later questioned: "Who should be the heroine opposite Shreyas Talpade in Joker?"
The superhero film is expected to be India's first 3D production. Kunder has suggested that the project will arrive at cinemas at the end of the year.
