The actor, who was known for starring in his uncles' Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt’s films, made his debut in Footpath before starring in other Bhatt brother productions.
Hashmi said his critically acclaimed role in Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a time in India changed the way he was seen in Bollywood.
"I am getting a lot of offers after Once Upon... that are quite different and exciting. The film has opened doors for me to try new and different things outside the 'Bhatt camp'," he told PTI.
The 31-year-old actor stars in Madhur Bhandarkar's Dil To Baccha Hai which is released next week.
