The Sri Lankan actress has replaced Sherawat as the female lead in the sequel to 2004 film Murder.
"I am a little bit nervous. That's natural, you know," said Fernandez when asked how she felt about comparisons.
"We all know what Murder did for Mallika... It's natural that people will make comparisons and it's also natural that it will make me quite nervous and put me under pressure," she said.
The actress said that Murder 2 which is produced by Muhesh Bhatt will be a completely different story to the first one.
