The Times of India reports that the film will use cover versions of hit songs, following the same convention as the popular show.
The newspaper also suggests that Shah Rukh Khan's role in the Dharma Productions project will be modelled on Mathew Morrison's music teacher character Will Schuester.
In the same way as episodes of Glee have featured special appearances from celebrity figures, Johar is reportedly lining up leading Hindi film actors such as Kajol to appear in the film.
The movie stars debut performers Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles.
