The former Miss Universe 1994 posted her comments via her Twitter account.
"I so want India to win Miss Universe again. It's a victory long due. I know you feel the same way," she tweeted her followers.
The Main Hoon Na star also requested her fans help find a potential winner.
"All thoughts and ideas are welcome. Let's as a team find that beautiful and intelligent representative from India," wrote the 35-year-old.
A number of Bollywood actresses including Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, Payal Rohatgi and Neha Dhupia have made the transition from beauty pageants to cinema.
