The Tees Maar Khan star told debutante Kirmani that he came across as a veteran actor during the filming of Nikhil Advani's latest production.
Kirmani explained to Digital Spy: "I remember doing my first scene with Akshay, which was quite a complex sequence on an emotional level and fortunately I was able to do it in one take.
"At the end of the take Akshay asked Nikhil where he found me in front of the entire cast and crew. Nikhil explained that it was my first film at which point Akshay intervened and said it looked like it was my 31st film."
The London-based newcomer appears as Akshay Kumar's younger brother in the inter-generational family drama.
The project, which also features Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia, releases February 11.
