According to Mid Day, the social activist star hopes to adopt from India's north east region.
Jaitley commented: "I spent a lot of time in the north east and that is where I am very keen on adopting from. I always wanted to adopt besides having my own kids.
"It's great that Pete has agreed to this. It means the world to me. It's not easy, you know, for most men to accept such a decision."
The actress, who is also a brand ambassador for Egypt, said that she would prefer to adopt a baby girl.
"I haven't thought of that yet, to be honest. It's something we still have to think about. But we both are definitely partial to a little girl," she explained.
