The sports star tweeted yesterday that he had met the pair, who regularly attend cricket matches with each other.
He told followers: "Just had a lovely lunch with Sidhartha Mallya & his girlfriend Deepika Padukone. Thanks for picking up the bill Deepika.. NOT!! Haha (sic)."
Both Padukone and Mallya, the son of a billionaire Indian industrialist, have consistently denied rumours that they are dating despite being seen publicly together at most social events.
The Om Shanti Om actress broke up with her long-term boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor in 2009.
