The son of veteran star Jeetendra and sister of producer Ekta Kapoor, defended his relatives in The Times of India.
"I'm an independent man and I live my life on my own terms. It is ridiculous that people are saying that I have to ask permission from my family members to be friends with someone," explained the Golmaal actor.
"It's my life and I choose my friends, and no-one has a say in it," he added. "Yes, as family they always advise me and tell me their thoughts on things but they aren't such people who will force things on me or stop me from doing things."
The actor made a cameo appearance as himself, with father Jeetendra, in the 2007 song 'Deewangi Deewangi' from Om Shanti Om.
