The debut production from Sangeeta Datta, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of Tagore, won 'Best Film' at the Delhi Pravasi Film Festival and the 'Audience Award' at the London Asian Film Festival.
"The songs include two wonderful translations of Tagore's poetry by legendary lyricist Javed Akhtar," said the filmmaker.
Hindi film veterans Sharmila Tagore and Om Puri feature alongside Rang De Basanti star Ali Kahn, with a cameo appearance from Gap Yah actor Matt Lacey.
The UK gala screening of Life Goes On will take place at the Empire, Leicester Square this week.
The film, described as "a touching cross-cultural drama" by the Sunday Express, releases in the UK on March 11.
