The West Is West star told IANS that opportunities for him in Bollywood are limited.
Puri, 60, commented: "I don't get any meaty roles because there are hardly any meaty parts for character actors in our films.
"I've not been fully utilised in commercial cinema. I mean the big banners have not touched me; I don't know why I am an untouchable for them."
The actor shared his philosophy on Indian Cinema with Digital Spy last year.
"I prefer art films. I do Bollywood commercial films for butter, and for bread I do art films," said the crossover star.
Puri can currently be seen alongside Sharmila Tagore and Soha Ali Khan, in Life Goes On.
