The second half of the screenplay for the contemporary New York-set reworking of Romeo and Juliet is unworkable, according to the Mumbai Mirror.
A source told the site: "Though [producer] Sajid [Nadiadwala] liked the basic story idea of Heer Aur Ranjha, he was not too convinced. He told [director] Sabir Khan directly to work on the script again, even if it meant rescheduling Shahid Kapoor's dates."
"He even told Sabir to get the script ready on time or the project would be called off."
Nadiadwala is quoted by the paper as saying that he has given Khan a deadline of April 30 for the revised script.
Kapoor is currently shooting Mausam which will mark his father Pankaj's directorial debut.
It was reported that he had signed up for Heer Aur Ranjha with the intention of rebranding himself as an action hero.
