The Hindi and Kannada cinema star told Digital Spy that he was excited to find out the Indian Cinema Club in Cairo had chosen the film to relaunch their screenings.
"I'm very happy that my film Well Done Abba is still being appreciated in different parts of the world, and the screening at Cairo helps to reach out to a different audience."
The recently-married actor added that the film will always be important to everyone who worked on it.
"It will be interesting to see how everyone reacted to the movie. It's a special film and will always be for everyone who is attached to it."
The screening of Shyam Benegal's National Award-winning production at the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture was followed with a lecture by Indian cinema scholar Nadia Gradini.
The 2010 satire about bureaucratic corruption in rural India also features Minissha Lamba and Boman Irani.
Dattani was last seen on screen in last year's Bollywood hit I Hate Luv Storys.
