Arshad Warsi: 'Actors are scapegoats'

Arshad Warsi has spoken out in defence of Bollywood actors following the sentencing of Shiney Ahuja.

The Life... in a Metro star has been handed a seven-year jail term for sexually assaulting his maid.

Warsi told followers on Twitter: "You know the no. of rapes that happen in our country on a daily basis by influential and connected ppl... Those cases r not even registered (sic).

"My point is all criminals should be punished equally, it's not fair to make an example of an actor only because it makes news."

Ahuja was first accused of attacking the domestic servant in June 2009, and has since insisted that he was framed.

The actor-comedian will next be seen starring in Double Dhamaal.
