Actor-producer Aamir Khan attended the match with Kiran Rao, telling the media that he was superstitiously wearing the same outfit that he had worn to the semi-final at Mohali on Wednesday.
Chalo Dilli actor Lara Dutta also watched the game at the stadium with a group of friends, the Hindustan Times reports.
"She just can't wait for the match to start where she will root for Team India," a source revealed prior to the India vs Sri Lanka final.
As the game was about to commence Suniel Shetty commented: "If we bat first and manage at least 270, we'll win the final. Lanka won't be able to take the pressure."
Preity Zinta was also seen supporting the national team at Wankhede stadium, waving the Indian tricolour flag.
The Last Lear star posted on her Twitter page prior to the match: "On route to Wankhede Stadium to watch the India Sri Lanka cricket game. Am so excited! All the best to Dhoni and the boyz in Blue. (sic)"
Hindi film releases have been postponed for most of April during the World Cup matches.
