The Bengali actress told the Hindustan Times that her new film, Singularity, is the ultimate romance.
Basu revealed: "The crux of the movie is a love story. There is romance in each frame and at the same time my character is very fiery and brave. Hartnett and I have an amazing chemistry."
The 32-year-old star, who is reported to have split from long-term boyfriend John Abraham, has filmed a large portion of the movie in Australia.
The period film, directed by Roland Joffé, is set in colonial India.
"It has been a new experience," added the Race star. "I am honoured to work with him (Joffé) and I feel it is a step forward for me."
Basu will be seen later this month in the thriller Dum Maaro Dum.
