Payal Rohatgi has been accused by Sudhir Mishra of sending abusive SMS messages.
The director is reported to have contacted the police over the incident, after he had spoken out on the star's casting couch allegations against Dibaker Banerjee.
Mumbai Mirror reports that a source close to the filmmaker commented: "Sudhir got some calls and messages from Payal, after he was vocal about Dibakar's innocence.
"Since Payal took offence to his support, she started sending messages and calling him up on March 21 and 22. Her messages were quite nasty."
Defending her actions, 36 China Town star Rohatgi outlined: "Yes, I had called and messaged Sudhir when he lent support to Dibakar.
"I was disturbed with the way he and Anurag Kashyap were supporting Dibakar. I even gave an interview in a film glossy talking about them."
The model-turned-actress is said to have recently been offered work in Hollywood.
