The event, which took place at Cineplex Silvercity, Brampton, Ontario, marked the release of the actor's latest project, which was filmed in Canada.
"The highlight was the Prime Minister's wife Laureen Harper's dance performance with Akshay to the popular peppy track 'Pyaar Do Pyaar Lo', an already iconic music number from the film which has been championing the music charts for weeks," a source revealed.
The source added that Harper is said to have prepared for the sequence by repeatedly watching the video beforehand.
It is reported that Kumar dedicated the Anees Bazmee-directed release to the Canadian prime minister, Stephen Harper.
The actor was recently appointed by the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) as their Ambassador for India for the second year in succession.
Thank You is on general release in cinemas across the UK and worldwide via UTV Motion Pictures.
