Contrary to reports on Twitter saying that he had died, Rajinikanth is alive and recuperating from his recent health problems.
The actor, who was hospitalised last week during the filming of Rana, is at home recovering, NDTV reports.
The actor's wife Latha said: "I don't know where these rumours started from. These are false. He is in good health and is resting at home."
"Rajinikanth dead" had been one of the top trends on Twitter in India over the weekend, following the actor's health issues with bronchitis and a viral infection.
The first look of Rana is currently being showcased at the Cannes Film Festival.
The south Indian star's last release, Robot, is reportedly the most expensive Indian production ever made.
