The untitled project will see Khan star opposite two Hindi film heroines.
Chopra announced: "Everyone knows that when I make a movie, Shah Rukh will be involved with it. He is like family to YRF and I have always regarded him as one of my own.
"There will be two leading ladies in my film. Once Adi [Aditya Chopra] gives me the final draft of the script, I will finalise the two girls who will be cast along with Shah Rukh."
The project will also see AR Rahman collaborating with the Hindi movie director for the first time.
"I am starting work on the music of my as-yet-untitled film with the very talented Rahman," said Chopra.
"I am looking forward to creating some wonderful music combining Rahman's contemporary world music sensibilities and my old world sensibilities of lilting melodies."
The Oscar-winning composer said of his collaboration with Chopra: "I am very excited to work with Yashji and I am humbled by his faith in me for his film."
