The project, which reprises the 68-year-old star's Vijay character from some of his biggest hits of the 70s, is Bachchan's latest home production following the commercial success of Paa.
"Trendy eye gear, colourful scarves, bright shirts and an attitude to match, Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in a whole new avatar," a source revealed.
"Amitabh exudes the style and attitude of a flamboyant man who is very young at heart. The film is a fast-paced action thriller which showcases him in a never-seen-before stylised avatar."
Bachchan reunites with Hema Malini in the film, which also stars Raveena Tandon, Sonu Sood, Sonal Chauhan, Prakash Raj and Charmi.
Professor Rachel Dwyer from SOAS recently described the star as "a great communicator of moral sentiment".
Bachchan also features on the soundtrack of Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baab.
The Puri Jagannadh-directed production is scheduled to release worldwide July 1.
