The Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai star said that he tries hard to look good, The Times of India reports.
"I am a big time fitness freak," Hashmi told the newspaper. "I didn't care about it much until I got into it, but now skipping a workout feels like a sin.
"Also, I am very cautious about my diet. I don't eat junk food. I like having home food and follow a regular strict diet regime too."
The actor, who will be seen next in Murder 2, said that he eats Indian food in order to stay healthy.
"My daily diet is very much typical Indian food, a mix of both vegetarian and non vegetarian, with high proteins. Even if I am travelling, I carry some fruits, curd, juices etc. and make sure that I don't have to compromise on the diet," he said.
The actor recently denied that he had developed a six-pack for a film role.
