The Bengali star is said to have turned down Vishal Bhardwaj's next production with the Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai actor.
A source for The Times of India explained: "She doesn't want to act opposite Hashmi and currently wants to do lead roles opposite big stars.
"She has a film with Aamir Khan, and is in the process of signing two more films. So, she doesn't want to do films like Daayan."
Mukerji's spokesperson denied, however, that the actress had rejected the film on these grounds.
They explained: "She has no reservations about working with anybody... The question of casting and Emraan comes in later. She will never question Vishal about his casting - whether it's the serial kisser or anyone else."
The star said recently that she still has a long way to go in Bollywood.
