The actor, who is expecting his first child with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the end of 2011, spoke to The Times of India about impending fatherhood.
Bachchan said: "It still literally hasn't sunk in that there's going to be a child... you know, an offspring, I haven't gone into that father zone yet."
The Dostana star said that he would try to remain "chilled out" in the delivery room, unlike his appearance as a manic gynecologist in the 2005 release Salaam Namaste.
Bachchan added that he has felt "wonderful" since his father Amitabh Bachchan announced that the news last week on Twitter.
"It's very hard to describe how I'm feeling.... I mean it's nice, everybody is smiling, everybody is just very happy at home. The house is filled with flowers and people are calling and congratulating. It just feels wonderful," he said.
Rai Bachchan's forthcoming film Heroine has been put on hold as a result of her pregnancy announcement.
