The actress is well known for her campaigning in India for the overturning of laws making homosexuality illegal.
Jaitley told The Times of India: "What annoys me most is when people pass very stupid remarks. You can't even imagine; people have gone to the extent of saying that I'm a lesbian and my father and brother are gay!
"It's so weird and difficult to even understand the mindset of such people."
The actress reportedly got married in January to her Australian hotelier boyfriend Peter Stagg in a private wedding ceremony in Dubai.
Jaitley added that the stories do not bother her and that she would continue to show her "support towards the community".
However, she failed to turn up to the second anniversary of the repeal of the controversial anti-homosexuality clause, according to the paper.
In December 2009, she became a judge for the first ever beauty contest held for eunuchs.
