Delhi Belly star Vijay Raaz has been criticised after abandoning the shoot of gangster thriller Zilla Ghaziabad.
The actor, who also plays a villain in Delhi Belly, dropped out of his latest production only days before filming began because his role is not substantial enough, according to Mid Day.
Director Anand Kumar told the paper: "So what if Delhi Belly released? Vijay is acting as if he has become Aamir Khan overnight.
"He should be grateful that he got that chance and should not let fame and success go to his head. Maybe he thinks he's become Aamir Khan and wants to do only lead roles now."
Zilla Ghaziabad centres on the true-life story of a battle between a cop and a crime lord in 1990s Ghaziabad, played respectively by Vivek Oberoi and Sanjay Dutt.
Anand added that Raaz's part in the film was "pivotal" to the narrative as his actions instigate the gang war between the two leads.
Tanu Weds Manu and Omkara star Deepak Dobriyal stepped in to take on the role "after a 15-minute narration of the plot", the director revealed.
Raaz, who starred in international hits West is West and Monsoon Wedding, will next be seen in Bin Bulaye Baarati.
Delhi Belly has proved controversial to censors but has garnered huge praise from figures in the industry, including Ram Gopal Varma, who described producer Aamir Khan as a "god".
