The band comprises Mick Jagger, Rahman, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone and Damian Marley. According to The Indian Express, Rahman is thrilled with being part of the group.
"It took me way back to my high school days when I was playing in a rock band, but this one was a real one!" he said.
Former Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who collaborated with Rahman on the song, said he couldn't believe that the band would actually come together.
"I said 'it sounds like a good idea', [but] I never thought it would actually happen."
Super Heavy have been recording together in studios around the world and will release their first album in September.
Rahman, who won two Oscars for his work on the Slumdog Millionire soundtrack, also plans to work with other international artists on his world tour.
