The actress will now replace pregnant star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the controversial film project, Mumbai Mirror reports.
"Kareena has consented to the snorting, drinking and smoking scenes. Earlier, she had strong reservations against them," said a source.
However, the third-generation star is still said to be reticent about some of the movie's content.
"Now she just doesn't want to do the explicit lovemaking scenes with Arjun Rampal and Sudhir Mishra's discovery Arunoday Singh," added the source. "Those scenes are extremely sexy and Kareena is just not comfortable doing them."
UTV's Siddharth Roy Kapur and writer Niranjan Iyengar recently met Kapoor in Hyderabad to discuss changes to the screenplay.
Although Kapoor had been the first choice to play the title role in the film, it launched at Cannes with Rai Bachchan playing the lead.
The former Miss World and Bhandarkar are said to have terminated their friendship after the star fell pregnant and dropped out of the film.
