Preview screenings in Mumbai and London have attracted generally positive reviews ahead of the movie's opening weekend.
Taran Adarsh rated the film 4.5 out of 5 stars, saying: "Singham is a full-on masala film that works big time for varied reasons: The energetic drama, the terrific confrontations, the raw stunts and of course, for the three 'heroes' - Ajay Devgn, Prakash Raj and director Rohit Shetty."
Actor Abhishek Bachchan shared his thoughts on the movie with his Twitter followers after the screening.
"And the lion roars LOUD!!!!!" he wrote. "'Singham' is one film you don't want to miss. Go for it and then go again!!!"
However, Indian cinema writer Supriya Davda felt that the film would not perform as well in the international market as it would domestically.
Davda told Digital Spy: "Despite being entertaining in portions and some marvellous performances, as a whole this film was just not up to the mark. The film will do well at the box office as it will appeal to the 'aam janta' [the masses] and of course Ajay Devgn fans."
Singham, which is described as an homage to the classic Indian action film, is released today.
