Kareena Kapoor's waxwork statue at Madame Tussauds will be based on her image in Chameli.

The actress received widespread critical acclaim for her performance in the film as a Mumbai sex worker.

According to The Times of India, a source close to Kapoor said: "Several looks were discussed, but the maximum number of votes went to Kareena's look in Chameli, for which she won many awards.

Also, as it's an international forum, they wanted her in Indian wear. Chameli was a turning point in her career and she was appreciated by both critics as well as fans. It was after her performance in Chameli that the actress was appreciated as a talented star."

Kapoor's look in the film was designed by Manish Malhotra and executive producer Rangita Nandy, who reportedly scoured the streets of Mumbai to achieve the right image for the character.

The source added: "The museum officials have taken her measurements and have been working on her statue. Kareena has lots of Indian fans in London and she will be going there to inaugurate her wax statue in October."

Kapoor's statue will join the wax figures of Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan at the museum.
