The Prakash Jha project on the Indian government policy of reservation has a universal theme, the actor feels.
Bachchan said: "This is such a poignant film with a strong message that needs to be delivered to the public.
"Discrimination is a universal phenomenon which the common person encounters in his or her everyday lives all over the world, so it is a film that can appeal to a mass audience on a global scale."
Aarakshan has been primarily filmed in Bhopal, the setting of Jha's 2010 release Rajneeti.
"This film transcends background and divisions based on gender, class, ethnicity and so forth. [It is] a must see film!" Bachchan added.
Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan and Prateik Babbar feature alongside the veteran star in the movie.
Aarakshan releases worldwide on August 12.
