The Punjabi track, titled 'Shera Di Kaum', has been recorded by British hip-hop and Bhangra act RDB.
Kumar recently suggested that India should recognise the domestic status of hockey as a sport.
"If Canadians can celebrate Hockey Day, why can't we Indians support our own national sport and initiate something similar?" he asked.
Hollywood stars Rob Lowe, Russell Peters and Camilla Belle play lead roles in the crossover film.
Kumar had earlier worked with Snoop Dogg in Singh is Kinng and Kylie Minogue in Blue.
Co-produced by Kumar's Hari Om Entertainment, Breakaway is described as a cross-cultural hockey drama set in the Indo-Canadian community of suburban Toronto.
