Akshay Kumar bonds with Rob Lowe

Akshay Kumar is reported to have bonded with co-star Rob Lowe on the set of Speedy Singhs.

During the shoot for the forthcoming Indian-Canadian production, Kumar and Lowe discovered common interests including movies, health and kids.

An official spokesperson told Mid Day: "Rob Lowe and Akshay Kumar have become good friends. They have bonded like a house on fire.

"Both actors are almost the same age, plus both are fitness fanatics. They were heard sharing health tips."

In the film, Lowe plays a coach to Kumar's ice hockey team.

"Unlike other movies where popular Hollywood stars just do a cameo, Lowe is playing a central character in this Canadian/Punjabi comedy-drama film," the source added.

Kumar's production company Hari Om has financed the project, which has been described as similar to Bend It Like Beckham.

Speedy Singhs has its full theatrical release on September 23.
