Actor-turned-producer Dutt was alleged to have snubbed Khan at a party in July, despite their long-standing friendship.
"Salman is very disturbed by the recent reports suggesting a rift between him and Dutt," a source told Hindustan Times. "He wants to somehow fit a screening of Rascals in his airtight schedule, so he can recommend the film to his fans.
"It's the least that Salman can do. [Director] David Dhawan was overwhelmed to hear this, since he knows Salman doesn't watch films."
The pair will soon appear in an episode of Bigg Boss, India's version of Big Brother, directed by Dhawan.
Khan asked Dutt to appear on the show's first two episodes with him, ahead of Dutt taking on the hosting duties himself.
"We all become the Rascals on the set. It was Salman and Sanju's first day of shooting for the show. Seeing their camaraderie I've decided to cast them together in a comedy," Dhawan revealed.
Dutt and Rascals co-star Ajay Devgn are reportedly holding as many private screenings as possible to get feedback from friends and family.
Rascals sees Devgn and Dutt playing competing conmen who try to outsmart each other with increasingly wacky schemes.
