The veteran actor will do a voiceover for the science fiction superhero film, according to Mumbai Mirror.
Khan reportedly asked Bachchan to join cast members Rajinikanth, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in the movie.
"SRK wants Big B to do the voiceover for an extremely important sequence in the film. Anubhav Sinha, the director, was also keen on having someone to do the voiceover," said a source.
"In fact, when Khan approached Bachchan, the superstar immediately agreed to be a part of the superhero flick. There is immense respect between SRK and Amitji."
Sinha confirmed the news, telling the paper that they had needed someone "special" to do the voiceover.
Khan has described Ra.One as the first project he has developed with his young children in mind.
In June, he said that it was "a father-son love story", adding: "It's a family entertainer like most of my films are, and is meant for kids and adults alike."
