Shahid Kapoor 'cast in Knight and Day remake'

Shahid Kapoor is to feature in the official remake of US hit Knight and Day, according to reports.

The actor will play the part originally performed by Tom Cruise in the espionage drama, claims Mumbai Mirror.

"Fox Studios feels that Shahid has immense potential to carry out Tom Cruise's histrionics convincingly. They find him to be an actor who can portray a gamut of emotions if and when required," said a source.

An announcement is yet to be made as to who will feature opposite the actor in the role of Cameron Diaz's character.

"The leading lady is yet to be finalised. The official announcement is on its way. They will announce it soon enough as they want to go on floors next year," added the source.

Diaz's comedy There's Something About Mary inspired Kapoor's 2005 Bollywood release Deewane Huye Paagal.

Kapoor's most recent project Mausam saw the actor playing a fighter pilot, drawing comparisons to the Cruise classic Top Gun.

The official music launch of the Pankaj Kapur production was delayed due to the London riots.
