Nandana Sen: 'I received hate mail over Rang Rasiya nude scenes'

Nandana Sen has revealed that she received hate mail over her nude scenes in 2008's Rang Rasiya.

The actress starred as life model and muse Sugandha Bai, who posed for controversial 19th century painter Raja Ravi Verma, played by Randeep Hooda.

Sen told DNA India: "Without knowing what the film was all about, or why I had done the scene, I received hate mail for the scenes. There were objections from different quarters also.

"Nudity can be depicted in two ways - when you present a woman's body as an object then it's demeaning to a woman. The way a woman's body has been presented in this film, it celebrates the power of women."

In 2010, her Prince It's Showtime co-star Vivek Oberoi thanked Sen and the two other female leads in the film for helping him through difficult kissing scenes.
