The actor is on the lookout for a suitable property for his new venture, which will apparently serve East Indian food.
He'll open the restaurant in partnership with his close friend, stylist and designer Ashley Rebello.
A source told The Times of India: "Salman really enjoys Ashley's culinary skills. He's been asking the designer to open his own restaurant.
"In the past Ashley laughed it off, but Salman has taken matters into his hands and is brainstorming with Ashley about the decor and menu."
The restaurant won't be restricted to traditional Malvani food and will have something for everyone, from a quick bite to an elaborate three-course meal.
The source added: "A team of experts will work along with them on this."
Rebello confirmed the reports, saying: "Yes, we are planning a restaurant together, but it's too early to say more."
