The film, which released in December 2009, broke box office records in India and was screened at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
"We are in talks with three studios in Hollywood and one company in Italy for the remake of 3 Idiots" the film's producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra told PTI.
The film is releasing in mainland China next week. Some 900 prints of the film have been sent in what will be the biggest Bollywood release outside of India.
"It's a first for any Hindi film to release with so many prints in China. It is also being adapted into a stage musical in Taiwan. The film has already made two to three million dollars in Hong Kong," said Chopra.
"The director of Kung Fu Hustle Stephen Chow is also remaking it in Chinese."
He added: "My films are made with universal values so they connect with audience[s] all over the world. I am hoping my next Ferrari Ki Sawaari also tastes the same success."
