The actress will soon be seen in her first starring role since Double Dhamaal earlier this year.
She told New Kerala: "Being a part of the movie means a lot to me. For the first time, I am playing a North Indian character, a Haryanvi."
Sherawat was greeted by the production crew of the film on her return to Mumbai from Los Angeles.
"My entire cast is here. What better welcome than this? It's such a pleasant surprise. I had never imagined that I will get such a surprise," she said.
Politics of Love, her last film in the US, failed to find distribution in cinemas.
The Hisss star played an intern who becomes romantically involved with a fellow campaigner during the 2008 presidential elections.
Sherawat reportedly turned down another role from the producers of Murder because it was "too small".
